Nagpur-based NGO SNIC Rehab Foundation had organized a virtual national summit for parents of children with special needs between May 20 and 23, 2021. It featured more than 25 experts from across the country who held discussions on various aspects of child development.

Named ‘National Summit for Special Needs Parents 2021’, the theme of the virtual national summit was ‘challenges to opportunities’. It was inaugurated on May 19 at 5 pm in the presence of former vice-chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) Dr Mrudula Phadke.

Other special guests included regional adviser for Disability, Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation for Southeast Asia regional office of World Health Organization Dr Patanjali Dev Nayar, international president and executive director of Commonwealth Association for Health and Disability (COMHAD) Dr Yashwant Patil, and Dr Uday Bodhankar. Other than several NGOs, parents’ bodies, and associations, more than 500 parents had registered for the Summit.

As per the organizers, the aim behind organizing this summit was to empower special needs parents with knowledge shared by the experts, understand their concerns to improve the interventional facilities, and deliberate upon ways to improve the current system.

For more information on the experts and their sessions, look upon their website www.snicrehab.com.
