Under this scheme, resource centres are supposed to be set up in every city with a population above 5 million. These centers act as libraries for aids, softwares, assistive devices and other such resources in order to provide easy access to them.
Resource persons employed by the centres are expected to be well versed in using and operating the devices in order to demonstrate them in front of stakeholders. For a more practical demonstration of these devices, the centre is supposed to have a setup akin to a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and other areas where a PWD is more likely to use them.
Other than displaying and demonstrating the devices, the centre is also supposed to keep a reference list of the devices with specifics including their cost listed down. The library, employee skills and reference list are supposed to be updated on a regular basis.
