Thiruvananthapuram based NGO Centre for Autism and other Disabilities Rehabilitation Research and Education (CADRRE) will be launching a free employability training program for youngsters in the autism spectrum. Aimed to equip young adults aged between 18 and 24 years to become financially independent, it will be launched in July.
The employability training will consist of lessons on life skills, communication skills, and social skills that will be provided over a period of 4-6 months. Those undertaking the training are expected to have completed plus two levels of schooling. A team of experts including psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists will be the trainers.
Director of CADRRE G Vijaya Raghavan informed that after the basic training, all participants will be given job-specific training for skill development in selected vocations. This will be followed by four months of onsite apprenticeship at CADRRE’s center at Sasthamangalam, Thiruvananthapuram, he added.
He also informed that the entire costs of the program will be borne through funds raised by donations, and therefore it would be provided free of cost for the deserving participants. Those interested in the program can register by submitting their bio-data, disability certificate, and a short write-up on “my dream job” on the email address info@cadrre.org before June 15, 2021.
